ENROLLMENT GUIDE FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

An international student refers to a student who undertakes all or part of his/her higher education experience in a country other than his/her home country or a student who travels across a national boundary to a country other than his/her home country to undertake all or part of his/her higher education experience.

A student with international passport or has dual citizenship, or is a Filipino graduate abroad needs to go through pre-admission process with the Office of External Relations and Internationalization. He/She also needs to submit additional documents during the admission process before he/she can proceed with the enrollment steps.

Pre-Admission with Office of External Relations and Internationalization

Go to the International Student Applicants Portal, fill in the applicant details, upload files (please upload one at a time), complete the Captcha, and click submit.

The following are the required initial documents for evaluation to be uploaded via the link. All of these documents must be in English:

  1. Transcript of Records (1st and 2nd semester of Grade 11 and Grade 12 - for Bachelor's program)

  2. Diploma/Certificate of Graduation (Grade 12 or its equivalent - for Bachelor's program)

  3. Diploma or its equivalent (for Masteral and Doctoral programs)

  4. Passport Bio-page (pages in which name, photo, birthdate and birthplace appear.)

  5. IELTS/TOEFL with a rating of at least 6.0 or as prescribed by the program (except for those who graduated from schools with English as the medium of instruction)

For Transferee Applicants from Philippine school

  1. Passport with valid student visa stamp

  2. Alien Certificate of Registration Identification Card (ACR-ICard)

For Dual Citizenship

  1. Certificate of Recognition as Filipino/Identification Certificate Number/Certificate of Re-Acquisition/Retention of Philippine Citizenship

Note: Your initially uploaded documents are to be evaluated and reviewed by the University Registrar . You will receive the result of the evaluation via the email address indicated in your application. An affirmative result would mean that you can proceed with the admission process.

Admissions

Go to the Admissions Portal, fill in the applicant details, upload the files (please upload one at a time), complete the Captcha, and click submit.

For Incoming Freshmen Applicants:

    1. Transcript of Records (1st and 2nd semester of Grade 11 and Grade 12)

    2. Diploma/Certificate of Graduation

    3. School ID (A Certificate of Eligibility is required should there be no available school ID. click this for the template)

    4. Passport Bio-page (pages in which name, photo, birthdate and birthplace appear.)

    5. 1 copy 2x2 colored photo with white background

    6. A Personal Statement of not less than 200 words (click this for the template). The Personal Statement shall be submitted in Microsoft Word format and shall be accompanied with a Statement of Originality and Sole Authorship (not to be included in the word count). The Statement of Originality and Sole Authorship is the applicant’s solemn attestation to the Office of the Department Chair that the piece is her or his own work.

For Graduate Program Applicants:

    1. Transcript of Records

    2. Diploma/Certificate of Graduation

    3. Passport Bio-page (pages in which name, photo, birthdate and birthplace appear.)

    4. 1 copy 2x2 colored photo with white background

    5. Recommendations from a faculty of the previous school or colleagues (click this for the recommendation form)

    6. A Personal Statement of not less than 200 words (click this for the template). The Personal Statement shall be submitted in Microsoft Word format and shall be accompanied with a Statement of Originality and Sole Authorship (not to be included in the word count). The Statement of Originality and Sole Authorship is the applicant’s solemn attestation to the Office of the Department Chair that the piece is her or his own work.

    7. Essay Test

For Transferee Applicants:

  1. Certificate of Transfer Credentials (Honorable Dismissal)

  2. Transcript of Records (TOR)

  3. Diploma/Certificate of Graduation

  4. Passport Bio-page (pages in which name, photo, birthdate and birthplace appear.)

  5. 1 copy 2x2 colored photo with white background

  6. A Personal Statement of not less than 200 words (click this for the template). The Personal Statement shall be submitted in Microsoft Word format and shall be accompanied with a Statement of Originality and Sole Authorship (not to be included in the word count).   7. Clearance from Office of Student Formation and Activities (previously OSA), University of San Carlos

    • contact the Office Student Formation and Activities (OSFA) for interview by filling up this form. you will be informed of the interview schedule through the email you indicated on the form

    • based on the interview, OSFA may issue you a clearance via email so you can proceed with the program application process

Post-enrollment Requirements with Office of External Relations & Internationalization

Once officially enrolled, please submit hard copies of the following authenticated documents through the Apostille issued by the Secretary of State of the country of origin (for those whose countries are members of the Hague Conference on Private International Law). For those non-members of HCCH, an authentication with a red ribbon by the Philippine Embassy in the country of origin applies.

For Freshmen:

  • Transcript of Records (1st and 2nd semester of Grade 11 and Grade 12) for Bachelor’s Program

  • Diploma/Certificate of Graduation for Grade 12

  • Passport bio-page

  • English Proficiency Requirement

  • Birth Certificate/ Family Register/ Household Register

  • Police Clearance (No Criminal Record)

  • Original copy of notarized affidavit of support and proof of adequate financial support, or bank statement to cover expenses for student’s accommodation and subsistence, school fees and other incidental expenses

For Masteral and Doctoral Applicant:

  • Transcript of Records

  • Diploma or its equivalent for (Masteral and Doctoral Program)

  • Passport bio-page

  • English Proficiency Requirement

  • Birth Certificate/ Family Register/ Household Register

  • Police Clearance (No Criminal Record)

  • Original copy of notarized affidavit of support and proof of adequate financial support, or bank statement to cover expenses for student’s accommodation and subsistence, school fees and other incidental expenses

For Transferees from Philippine School:

  • Original Copy of Certificate of Transfer Credential (Honorable Dismissal)

  • Transcript of Records (Informative Copy)

  • Certificate of Good Moral Character / Clearance from OSA

  • Passport bio-page

  • Copy of 9F Valid Student Visa Stamp

  • Copy of Alien Certificate of Registration of Identification Card (ACR-ICard)

  • Birth Certificate/ Family Register/ Household Register

  • Police Clearance (No Criminal Record)

  • Original copy of notarized affidavit of support and proof of adequate financial support, or bank statement to cover expenses for student’s accommodation and subsistence, school fees and other incidental expenses

For Transferees from School Abroad:

  • Transcript of Records

  • Certificate of Graduation/Diploma

  • Police Clearance (No Criminal Record)

  • Passport bio-page

  • English Proficiency Requirement

For those with Dual Citizenship

  • Transcript of Records

  • Certificate of Graduation/Diploma

  • Police Clearance (No Criminal Record)/ Certificate of Good Moral Character

  • Passport bio-page/Philippine Passport

  • Original Authenticated PSA (NSO) Birth Certificate

  • Clear photocopy of Birth Certificate

  • Certificate of Recognition as Filipino/Identification Certificate Number/Certificate of Re-Acquisition/Retention of Philippine Citizenship
